Gingivitis
Once gingivitis is allowed to progress, it turns into periodontitis, which is severe gum disease. Allowing your gum disease to progress to this point means that you may experience bone loss and tooth loss as a result. It is vital to your health that you receive treatment for your condition.
The Periondontal Therapy Process
When it comes to periodontal therapy, it is a process that includes three distinct steps.
The first step of the process is the diagnosis. This means that you will come into our office for a consultation with our periodontist and he will examine your teeth and mouth and measure the space between your teeth and gums. If you have periodontitis, it will be diagnosed and you will be informed.
The next stage of the process is the treatment phase. During this phase, you will receive treatment for your periodontal disease. The treatment you receive may include a series of different treatments.
Non-surgical Gum Therapy
We offer non-surgical gum therapy in our office and this type of therapy is used to treat gum disease without you having to undergo oral surgery. We utilize a procedure called root scaling and planing, which cleans your teeth and roots from all bacteria and plaque deep below the gumline. We also offer medication to heal any infections.
When needed, you may need to have oral surgery to correct gum disease that is too advanced for non-surgical treatment. The last step in the process is the maintenance phase. This is the time to maintain your teeth and gums through regular follow-ups, proper dental hygiene, and even cosmetic solutions including, braces, dentures, bridges, and dental implants.

Maintenace Plan
The last step in the process is the maintenance phase. This is the time to maintain your teeth and gums through regular follow-ups, proper dental hygiene, and even cosmetic solutions including, braces, dentures, bridges, and dental implants.
One of our dentists will discuss a maintenance plan with you and it may require you to come into our office more than twice a year for checkups. It is important to maintain your teeth and gums once your gum disease has been corrected because it can come back.
